To Their Graces, the Counts of Rostilla,  Their Eminences,  the Pontifices Supremi, Archmagister Avena and Masters of the Tower,  the Lord Guildmasters, and the foresworn and false usurper of the Throne of Rostilla

We Arise.

On this, Legis Day, the House of Surrexus rises up.  We repudiate any and all oaths to Albanus Roster, Oathbreaker, Demon worshipper and Murderer.  We call upon the Gods to witness the sins of Albanus Roster and his conspirators and judge them.  Our loyalty to Rostillia and to its true throne require us to stand against the great evil that  has been done.

Our Father, Count Arius Surrexus, as a dutiful and faithful Rostillan, went to Albanus Roster to provide proof that some temples had been corrupted by unclean practices.  That some of these so-called mystery cults were, in fact, demonic and unclean.  This, and only this, was the reason he went before the throne.

He did present his proof against Magnus Tillaford, Surilla, and these temples to Albanus Roster. Our Father never left that audience.  He was taken to the Carcer where he was tortured and killed. His last sending to us from the Carcer was that the temples, the tower, and the king were all compromised.  Assassins were then dispatched to murder ourselves and our dear brothers and sisters that our fathe's knowledge might die with him.  Assassins who have failed, and who did further convict our enemies with their confessions before their executions.

Attached you will find the sworn statement of our Uncle Laurentius in which he states that he was forced to lie before the council about why Count Arius Surrexus went to Albanus Roster.  In this statement, sworn before the gods, he further states that our Father did tell him that he went to see the king to warn him of the corruption in his kingdom and all his statements about a relationship between the king and Matina Harrans are completely untrue, statements he was forced to make.  May the Gods and Harrans have mercy upon our Uncle, who by his actions before the council has lived long enough to tell the truth before man and Gods.

To hide his unclean and horrific crime, the king and his conspirators further murdered the Countess and the first Heir of Surrexus and further besmirched the honorable name of Matina Surrexus with scandalous accusations, as if even an indecent woman would bed such an ugly a man, but for coin.  No sane man would believe such an accusation about a daughter of Harrans, and only an insane one would make it.

Our mother, may the gods bless and keep her, was nowhere near the city of Rostillia when this supposed action took place.  No doubt, the sudden actions of our Father forced them to fabricate a story of questionable nature, hoping that further murders could prevent its hard questioning.

We understand that our beloved brother Brennus was murdered on Melossus lands by Tillaford knights.  That Tillaford had no authoritas in Melossus goes without saying, the grossness of this action demonstrates the desperation of the conspirators to quickly silence all who might know the truth.  Their murderous spree has failed, and we will speak the truth that men and Gods might judge it.

We have proof that the whore Surilla and Magnus Tillaford conspired to murder Lord Ferinus Molossus and attempt to pass it off as a bandit attack, believing that the counts of Rostilla would be fools enough to believe that a nobleman accompanied by a large contingent of guards would ever be set upon by bandits.

We have proof that the whore Surilla and Magnus Tillaford worship the Demoness Lil, under the guise of a mystery cultof Dulcea, and murdered Lord Ferinus Molossus to attempt to destroy the proof he possessed.  Proof that we now possess.

We have sworn testimony that the Pontifex Supremi Legis has taught under guise of a 'mystery cult' that speaking to the Fas dead is permissible.  We have examined one such initiate and verified with both a clean priest as well as our brother, Sir Titus of the Order of St. Cavallius, that they have become unclean as a result of their devotions in this mystery cult.  We beg our fellow Counts to call upon the Paladins and their priests to seek for this corruption in your lands.

We beg that all Lords to begin making the sacrifices themselves, for we cannot know how far the corruption spreads, and Rostor's  and Pontifex Supremi Legis sacrifices will not be received by the gods.  Look to your sacrifices, their livers tell you the truth of our words.

We strongly council all Lords to find priests uninitiated in any such mystery cults and ask them to examine other priests and their households and themselves for uncleanliness.  Such evil as this grows only in shadow, and the strong light of day will reveal the corruption.   The righteous have nothing to fear. As any lord would know, the Law is the Law.  The gods do not forbid necromancy, and then whisper in the dreams of a man that the law does not apply to him.

We Counsel all Lords to look to their household for spies and assassins.  Our Father trusted his sworn men, and paid with his life for his trust.

We have proof, from the lips of the whore, that Martialis Surrexus has been compromised.  For this, we remove him from the house of Surrexus until his relationship to the traitors can be explained to our satisfaction.

We have proof that spies were placed in our household and that our knight was incited to treason and treachery.  He was instructed to murder ourselves, and are brothers and sisters.  In addition to his own actions, This knight did hire bandits to attempt to murder members of the house of Surrexus.

We were set upon by demons, barghuests, clearly tracking us and not mere wanderers through the lights.  Demons that we dispatched.

We refute these accusations and accurse the name of Roster.  May Legis torment this oathbreaker by day, and may Dulcea torment him by night.

Given the proof that we have gathered against this man, we cannot but believe that the death of his father was not by Viridian hand, but by his own or those of his accomplices, and therefore his coronation is null and void.

We call upon the Counts, Eminences, Archmagister, and Lord Guildmasters to refute this false king.  We call upon them to look to spies in their houses and demon worshippers in their temples.  We call upon them to do the rites of the gods in their own houses, for no sacrifice made by a false king will be received by the Gods.

And lastly we call upon these Oathbreakers and demon worshippers, Albanus Roster, Magnus Tillaford, and the whore Surylla to publically, before man and the Gods, swear the following oath:

I Swear by Leges and Dulcea, By Crescens, Bella, and Askelius that all these accusations made against me are false.  May the Gods damn me and accurse me for all eternity if I speak falsely."

We further demand that the bodies of our murdered father be returned to Surrexus for honest burial.  Our brother Marius, priest of Legis, has prayed over the bodies returned to Surrexus and while that of our mother is hers, the body that is supposedly our father is not.

We call upon our fellow counts to demand this honor be satisfied.  It is base beyond words that are father was tortured to death for his faithfulness, then his body be denied an honorable funeral.

The House of Surrexus, declaring its loyalty to the Throne of Rostilla, does hereby declare blood feud upon the House of Roster, upon Magnus Tillaford, and all their allies.  We will strike against them at the time and place of our choosing, and know that before the Gods that we will not rest in this life or the next until we have vengeance for the evil done us.

Let any man who doubts give me a sending, and I will swear before the Gods that what I have said is true.

Count Severus of Surrexus
