The name Praetor Ferreus used for an evil magician, a man of great interest to Viridia's spy-master. The elves know him as Tennex (a Vestran name) and say that a thousand years ago, he raised an army of demons that threatened the Northwoods. The elves allied with the Tarakinos (the ancestors of the House of Tarquin, Viridia's ancient royal family) to defeat him. The magus was buried with "superstititious but effective rites", and the elves were very surprised to learn that he was still alive. The Praetor said that 20 years ago, Eboricus came to Viridistan and gave counsel to Emperor Baserius. However Baserius' wife, the current Empress Mara Gentillia Augusta, objected to him and insisted her husband send him away. Recently the party has come to believe that he is the ring-leader of the evil forces in Rostilla.
