Regulus

Paladin of the Order of St. Cavallius.  Friend of Corvina and Sir Lucellus.

Quiet and unassuming, Sir Regulus doesn't talk much about himself or the past.  He may be in his early fifties, though it's hard to tell, for grey and silver blend well into his blonde hair.  He doesn't confess his age, or chat about his childhood -- or even his time as a paladin.  Perhaps it's grief or melancholy that stills his tongue.  Those who've known him for long (like Sir Tinnius) say that he's trained five squires.  Not a one of whom is alive today.

Ten years ago, Regulus watched his old friend Meritanus ride into the Fallen Lands, leaving Ancilla -- the last of the Council Blades -- in the hands of a teenaged boy named Lucellus.  The blades echo their bearers' strength.  In the hands of the mighty, they're awe-inspiring weaons.  In the hands of the young...  Fearing that Ancilla would be lost, Regulus chose to become Lucellus' unofficial guardian, shepherding the young man until the day he was formidable enough to protect Ancilla alone.

Over time, Regulus came to be very fond of the boy.  These days it's not clear if he stays to protect Ancilla, or simply because Lucellus is his friend.

Description:  Light hair (a mixture of blonde, grey, and silver), straight and short.  A long, thin face with sharp angles.  Tall, but not too tall;  muscular, but not too brawny.  Regulus can be easily overlooked as an average warrior of some stripe.  When he speaks, however, there's an authority and pensiveness in his soft voice that catches people's attention.
