Vardane is a city in Altania Inferior, but unique enough to merit its own entry.  Built on the ruins of some forgotten metropolis, Vardane is a den of pirates, thieves, robbers, and whores.  Normally it has a "lord", some warrior strong enough to force his will on the rest of the city -- for a time, anyways.  Witch-Lights frequently shimmer over Vardane's skies.  When monsters appear, the people of Vardane retreat into the subterranean ruins and wait until the creatures leave to find better food.
